On March 25, a team of Valpo Surf Project students, volunteers, and staff teamed up with environmental solutions company Geociclos Ecología Urbana and environmental non profit organization Valpo Interviene to clean Playa Carvallo in the Playa Ancha section of Valparaíso.  Coordinated by Geociclos, the event brought together more than 40 people to pick up the impressive amount of styrofoam pieces, glass and plastic bottles, and miscellaneous plastic waste covering the beach.  Similar to our last effort, we separated glass and plastic bottles to recycle them and keep them out of landfills.

Working in conjunction with Geociclos and Valpo Interviene, we will continue to plan monthly beach cleans in and around Valparaíso in the fifth region.  Look for posts and invitations via Facebook and twitter for upcoming beach cleans!

El 25 de marzo, un grupo de estudiantes, voluntarios, y administradores del Valpo Surf Project se juntaron con la compañía de soluciones medioambientales Geociclos Ecología Urbana y organización sin fines de lucro Valpo Interviene para limpiar Playa Carvallo en Playa Ancha.  Coordinado por Geociclos, el evento contó con mas de 40 personas para coleccionar la cantidad impresionante de plumavit, botellas de plástico y vidrio, y varios otros tipos de desechos de plástico en la playa.  En una manera similar a nuestra última limpieza en Playa Portales, separamos las botellas de plástico y vidrio para reciclarlas y mantenerlas afuera del basurero.
